See, there's this site called Yelp, where you can write reviews of various restaurants, bars, businesses and whatnot.

I posted a crazy number of reviews mostly not reviewing actual establishments but instead ranting about my insane Chinese family, my ridiculous world view, and my everyday life. In the process, I became one of the most "popular" people on the site.

Telegraph Avenue

I lived 0 to 2 blocks off of Telegraph Avenue during my entire 4-year stay in one of this country’s most famously political and liberal towns, gettin’ my learn on. While its troubles have been documented (*sniff*, bye Codys!) Telegraph will always have a place in my heart.

You have the Telegraph transients (Hat Lady, Dr. Jokemon, God Bless You guy, Happy Happy Happy, etc.), the non-chalant Cal kids in requisite Cal logo’d happiness, the frightened parents and tourists, the Oakland thugs, the kids from Marin slumming it in People’s Park, and the eclectic cafes, first Amoeba records, trendy vintage store shopping, and of course, the homeless.

I think my age betrays me now. I never used to get harassed by the bums, but the last time I was there, a bum ran up to me and screamed “I’ll let you spit in my face if you give me a dollar!!” Ah, memories.
